Welcome to the Ruislip Residents’ Association

This Association represents the people living in Ruislip, a town with a long history. Ruislip was mentioned in the Domesday Book, and in its old church of St Martin of Tours and Manor Farm site it still has links with its Norman past. It is now in the London Borough of Hillingdon.

HMOs, Ruislip Lido, and Hillingdon Council's enforcement capacity were key topics at the Ruislip Residents’ Association meeting

Thank you to the 130 residents who joined us on Wednesday 25th March, for the our Annual General Meeting. This year, we experimented with rotating meeting locations to ensure we serve all parts of the community, holding the event at St Paul's Church in Ruislip Manor. Because we had a packed agenda, we want to […]

Garden waste tags for 2026 are on their way - and they're orange!

Hillingdon Council's 2026/27 Garden Waste bag tags are orange, and they're on their way to this coming year's subscribers. We remain unconvinced that having plastic tags is necessary, and we are even less convinced that it was worth spending £137,000 more on them this year (figures from this year's budget - it seems an astronomical […]

Plastic on the high street? Why the Ruislip Manor station billboards don't use paper posters

We looked into why Global Media is screwing plastic boards under the railway bridge instead of pasting paper – and the answer might surprise you. If you passed the large advertising board under the railway bridge at Ruislip Manor station in the last couple of months you might have noticed that the advertising billboard on […]

Bishop Ramsey School's Latest Drama Production

At the beginning of March, Bishop Ramsey held four productions of their dramatised version of C.S. Lewis’s classical children’s fantasy novel, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, which takes the reader on a magical journey through a wardrobe into the enchanting world of Narnia where four siblings must battle the evil witch and restore the […]

Ruislip High St's motorcycle parking rules have not yet come into effect - but parking charges increase next month

Residents have been complaining about motorcycle parking along Ruislip High Street, saying that there has been no improvement since the new changes came into effect.  The reality is: the changes have not yet come into effect.  There has been no change to their parking yet, largely because there has been no change to the rules […]

Best Value or Best Mates? The £18,000 Question at Cowley Meeting Hall and Theo's Cafe

Over the last year, Hillingdon Council has repeatedly emphasised that it must achieve “best value” when managing or selling public assets. Residents recently saw this argument used during the sale of the former Uxbridge Library building. The Council rejected a higher offer because it was conditional on planning permission, instead accepting a lower bid that […]

RAIB publishes report on fatality at Ickenham Underground station

The government’s Rail Accidents Investigation Branch (RAIB) has investigated a fatality at Ickenham station last year, and this week published its report.  RAIB reports are always long, detailed, well written, and interesting.  The Ickenham report is especially interesting because of its local relevance.   We reproduce the RAIB’s summary below, and encourage anyone interested to read […]
